Netflix is like a magic portal to entertainment heaven—just two clicks and you’re watching almost any TV show or movie you want! And right now, there are some really amazing shows to begin bingeing on.
If you’re interested in psychic mind powers, game references, action, danger, and Eggos (who could forget Eggos?), then Stranger Things is the show for you! Step into the small town of Hawkins, Indiana in 1983. Mike, Dustin and Lucas are looking for their missing friend, Will Byres. Along the way the boys find Eleven, an interesting girl who has supernatural powers, but has escaped from the government. Follow the boys and El as they look for Will, who has ended up in the Upside Down. This show will definitely have you on the edge of your seat, especially since season two comes out on October 27th, 2017!
Imagine a modern version of the Archie comics plus a good murder-mystery, and drama, and your result is Riverdale. A mysterious murder occurred on the 4th of July in the town of Riverdale, and the big question is who killed Jason Blossom? Secrets are revealed and relationships are heavily tested in this crazy, explosive and mysterious drama. It’s a wild ride from start to finish, and every moment is worth it (especially since season two was released on October 12th, 2017.)
Excited about British crime shows with glorious acting? Then Sherlock is exactly what you’re looking for! The game is on in London as Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are chasing mysteries 24/7 and are roommates in the same apartment. The twists and turns of each carefully detailed episode are shocking, to be honest. It’s a beautifully thought-out series that just leaves you craving more.
Are you interested in a story about a young girl who is growing up in Green Gables? Anne With An “E” is a tale about an orphan girl named Anne who has an extraordinary imagination and is adopted by Matthew and his sister, Marilla. Anne learns how to make friends (and foes) while living in Green Gables. This show is a sweet tale about life and growing up. It’s a good show to watch as a family.
Voltron: Legendary Defender is a colorful and exciting remake of the original animated series from the 80’s. The new version follows Shiro, Lance, Hunk, Keith, and Pidge, the new generation of Paladins who pilot the mechanical lions that form the legendary guardian Voltron. In the new series, Voltron battles Zarkon’s galra armies that are controlling alien planets in the universe. It’s a cute show and has really good character development. Season 4 was released on October 13th, 2017.
When I asked Hannah Conrad, a junior at Lone Peak, what her favorite show on Netflix is, she responded “Probably Gilmore Girls, because it’s the only one I watch. Lol—I’m so weird.” Gilmore Girls is a drama and comedy show about the relationship between a single mother and her teen daughter while living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
Equus Carlson, one of The Peak’s seniors, said “Friends, because I find it hilarious! It’s really funny and relatable and I watch it all the time.” Friends is a 90’s romance sitcom about the personal and professional lives of 6 friends that live in Manhattan.
On Netflix, there are so many brilliant shows. Each one tells a different story and is unique in its own way. Now it’s time to check it out! See which ones interest you and binge watch! (Healthy bingeing, of course.)
