November. The month of Thanksgiving and gratitude. During November, most people spend time thinking about what you’re grateful for, spend time with family and friends, and eat thanksgiving dinner, which means a lot of good food and a ton of dessert.

Holiday Yams

Sweet Potato Mixture:

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 egg, well beaten

  • ¼ cup butter

  • ¼ cup flour


Topping/Crust Mixture:  

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup flour

  • ¾ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)

  • ¼ cup butter



  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

  2. Combine Crust Mixture in mixing bowl and put to one side

  3. Combine Sweet Potato Mixture ingredients in a mixing bowl (Add sweet potatoes last)

  4. Pour Sweet Potato Mixture into a buttered baking dish

  5. Sprinkle Crust Mixture evenly over the top

  6. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees

  7. Allow to set for 30 minutes before serving
