A counsellor is a trained, objective professional with whom you can build a therapeutic and trusting relationship. They are trained to offer talk-based therapy. Counselling is a process of talking about and working through your personal problems with a counsellor. Counselling provides confidential support.
The counsellors here at Lone Peak are such a big part of our lives. They meet with us to make sure we’re on track to graduate, help us with class changes, and talk to us about whatever we need. The counsellors here are awesome and you can tell that they genuinely love helping us students.
Helping us graduate is a huge part of their jobs. They help us with taking the right classes so we can graduate and have the right credits. Even if they’re classes we don’t want to enroll in, taking them is beneficial for us because we learn necessary life skills and principles. Learning these things are so great for college and life after high school.
There are countless times where we need help and fast and we run to the counsellors office for their guidance. They are so willing to help and are very good at reducing your stress levels. They are calm and collected and help you to the best of their ability. Freaking out about a class schedule? They got it.
If there’s ever anything going on and you need someone to talk to, that’s what your counsellor is there for. It’s a safe environment to talk about your feelings and what’s going on in your life. They can guide and help you to make decisions on what best helps you progress and thrive.
The counseling at Lone Peak High School is great. Actually, it’s amazing! I’ve never seen individuals who care more and who want to better the lives of the students.
