This year for reflections, students were asked to express in one piece, “what is your story?”. Participants were able to enter several mediums such as dance, photography, painting, sculpture and more. I, myself, having entered the competition, understood the struggle to portray the theme in my own unique way.
I spoke to one of the participants, Brianna Sanchez, about her piece and what she thought about the theme. “At first I was intimidated because it’s such a broad question and I thought it would be hard to capture my life in one art piece.” But then she went to say that she later realized that it just left a lot of room for interpretation. Sanchez, being a talented artist, took a different approach and decided to depict her story through craftmanship rather than image.
