The Greatest Showman
Amber Neville - Staff Writer
I went to go see The Greatest Showman on January 6, 2018. When I first heard about the movie, I immediately wanted to go see it. When I left the movie, I loved everything about it! The music and the choreography were so amazing!
The story of The Greatest Showman is about how P.T. Barnum started the Barnum & Bailey Circus. The idea for this musical of a movie started in 2009 and by August 2011 the movie had a director. In 2013, Fox hired Benji Pasek and Justin Paul to write the soundtrack. On June 15, 2016, Zac Efron began negotiations to be in the film and in July 2016, Michelle Williams was casted into the film. Film rehearsals began in October 2016 in New York City. Unfortunately, the movie came out 7 months after the Barnum & Bailey Circus closed.
Pasek & Paul did The Greatest Showman Soundtrack. In the past, they’ve done Dear Evan Hansen, the lyrics for La La Land, James and the Giant Peach, and many more musicals.
Ashley Wallen, an australian choreographer, did the choreography for The Greatest Showman. He has also done choreography for the 2011 UK version of Ghost the Musical. He was the resident dance captain for The X Factor, and is currently the choreographer for Minogue’s Kiss Me Now Tour.
The Greatest Showman is about P.T. Barum beginning the Barnum & Bailey Circus, and how that circus became successful.
The theme of the movie is to be proud of how different and unique you are., and I think that’s a great message.
I give this movie a 10/10 for the amazing soundtrack and beautiful choreography.
